In today’s world, computers are smarter with something called Artificial Intelligence, or AI for short. AI helps machines learn and think almost like humans. But with all these smart computers, it’s harder for companies to keep their digital spaces safe.
A study by PwC, a big company that helps others with advice and services, discovered that most organizations are not completely ready to fight against cyber dangers. Only a tiny 2% are really good at defending themselves in every way the study asked about.
There’s a special kind of AI called “generative AI” that’s making things more complicated. It’s so smart that it can create new things, which means it can be used by good guys to protect our computers but also by bad guys to trick us with fake messages and images.
The scary part is, the things that companies are most worried about – like dangers in the cloud (where we keep our data online), leaks of private info, and attacks on devices connected to the internet – are also what they’re least ready for. The use of generative AI can make these problems bigger by creating new ways for information to be unsafe or misused. Nearly 40% of companies are worried about how to add this AI into their systems without causing new problems.
Surprisingly, while companies know these new AI technologies could increase risks, they are still spending more money on them to fight off cyber threats. This is because AI can do some pretty neat things, like finding and stopping viruses and sneaky emails before they can do harm.
But there’s a problem inside companies too. The big bosses – like the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Chief Security Officer (CSO), and the CEO – don’t always agree on how big these problems are. This could make it tough for them to work together to stop these issues. Less than half of these security bosses play a big role in making important decisions for the business, which isn’t great for keeping things safe.
It’s not all bad news though. Businesses are waking up and starting to take action. They’re putting more money into understanding risks, especially when it comes to managing AI, and they’re improving their cybersecurity investments, which is helping them fight off digital dangers better than before.
Understanding all of this tech talk can be hard, and knowing what to do next is even harder. That’s where Diversified Outlook Group comes in.
